It might be hard to believe, but a dog with paralysed back legs or with weakness of the rear legs CAN live a happy and active life with the help of a wheelchair / cart. It does not always mean it's time to consider that last trip to the vets.
Dogswheels have over ten years of experience in fitting dogs with wheelchairs and improving their quality of life. Their dog wheelchairs have been designed to overcome the limitations and problems inherent in many other dog wheelchair designs. As they are built in the UK, we can ship a dog wheelchair to anywhere in the UK and Europe at a fraction of the cost of other wheelchair.
Dogswheels are run by the founder Jim Colla, who first came into contact with dog carts over ten years ago when his two German Shepherds, Prince and Sabre, came down with a disease called CDRM (known as DM in the US). This terrible disease is similar to MS in humans, and causes a gradual, creeping paralysis of the dog's rear legs.
Since the late 90s, Jim gained a wealth of experience and ownership of all the various makes of dog carts, Dogmobile, Doggon Wheels, K9 and Eddies Wheels. Jim travelled to Amsterdam, Spain, Portugal, Jersey to see to dogs as well as matched dogs in Israel, India, Australia, South Africa the USA and even a remote Indonesian Island to dog carts. He says that the feeling when the e-mail comes saying the dog is mobile again is beyond description. Jim and matched hundreds of dogs to carts with overall 98% plus success rates.
Now, Jim manufactures the dog carts himself to provide affordable solutions for dogs in needs and their owners that look for hope and practical help.
Here is one of many happy Dogswheels testimonials:
Just thought I would give you a quick update on Daisy and her wheels. As you know they arrived Friday. It was a mixed emotion....... daring to hope that she would be fine in them and feeling sick to the pit of my stomach incase she didnt accept them. Well, I assembled the wheels and put her in the cart. She had about 15 seconds of struggling to get out of it while my heart was sinking and breaking..... then my mum came out to see how she was doing and Daisy ran over to her to greet her ....... then realised that she could now "run" again.... and that was it off she went..... ... She was chasing balls for the first time in months. It had me in tears of happiness. We have had all weekend to get more used to it and have just come back from a lovely long walk in the sun with Daisy Moo running around with a ball in her mouth just like old times. What can I say? I am ecstatic and cannot thank you enough. I have video'd the Moo in her cart and will get around to sending you a copy. I posted the cheque yesterday but obviously will not go out until today. I have written a bit about Daisy and her wheels for Dogsbody (GSDWF). Once again thank you so much for all your help. Big sloppy kisses from Daisy Moo.
